Ah Detroit. Your people. Your buildings. Your graffiti. Love it all. We’ve shot a half a dozen weddings in Detroit and have wandered through it’s alleys and empty skyscrapers for a decade. Michelle and Jim drove all the way up to the Keweenaw for their engagement shoot on the farm this past fall, and we wanted to be extra special with them on their wedding day. A rehearsal dinner at Big Rock in Birmingham, and a reception at The Reserve easily set the bar for venues. This is also a wedding where we showed up on-site with 4 cameras, a 10b drone, and a medium frame polaroid body from 1974. And we used all of it… Which also meant we needed not only our own southeast Michigan located photo editor Emily to assist and 2nd shoot, we needed Corktown silversmith Mavis to serve as limo guide for our editorial shooting downtown. It all worked, and it was all magical. Our clients simply trust us – our locations, our poses, and in this case a late night dash to a 1930’s cigar lounge to setup the Mamiya film body for a 10 second exposure before we said our good-byes and departed for a midnight dinner at the Mercury Burger Bar near our loft. Congrats to this most beautiful couple. Oh yeah, that oversized martini glass? – that was a centerpiece just moments before…
